Socializing America: Change We Can Believe In?

During the presidential campaign, Barack Obama repeatedly promised "change we can believe in." He never specifically outlined or defined what the change was going to be. We did get a hint during the Joe the Plumber episode where Obama let it slip that he wanted to "share the wealth." Since he's been in office, he has already started sharing the wealth (our wealth) with the big banks, mortgage lenders, and the automotive giants GM and Chrysler. His Economic Stimulus Plan (TARP), an addendum to the stimulus plan Bush rammed through before leaving office, has bascially turned into the largest transfer of wealth in American history.

So as far as change goes, do you believe in it? Were you expecting some revolutionary new idea? Sorry about your luck if you were hoping for something else. Socialism is what we're getting it appears. Now I don't think Obama can completely socialize this nation in one fatal swoop, but with a clear Democrat majority (that just got stronger with Arlen Specter's defection), he can push forward a far left agenda without too many difficulties. Obama will ride his cult of personality as far as it will take him, and then when opposition does begin to show (cue the Tea Party Movement), he will inevitably result to demogoguery and rogue power grabs to shrug off any other opposition.

Alan Keyes has gone on record as saying he believes Obama's handlers will stage terror in this country in order to initiate martial law. Could the recent Swine Flu "pandemic" be the beginnings of such a ploy? The media and world leaders are scrambling over this influenza outbreak as if it is the second coming of the Bubonic Plague. The Swine Flu is a serious contagion, but does it deserve all the hype it's getting? Everything about the Swine Flu pandemic wreaks of being staged. This strain has traces of other flu strains which lead me to think it's a homegrown version from some secret military lab. Do I have proof? No, but even if it's not staged, the Obama camp is noted for following the maxim "never let a crisis go to waste." Our government will use this Swine Flu outbreak to consolidate more money and power away from us. Surely everyone will see through this charade eventually.....but then again probably not so long as American Idol and Survivor stay on air.
